Prom season is almost here. It’s a time for most high schoolers to celebrate their experiences and kick up their heels, dressed to the nines and enjoying a fun night out. But for many who are less fortunate and can’t afford a nice prom dress or tuxedo, the prom isn’t something they are looking forward to.

The Suffolk County Police Department and Suffolk County Association of Women Police are hosting an event in April to help ensure every teen in Suffolk County gets a chance to enjoy their big party day.

Prom Impact 2022 will be held at the Suffolk County Police Academy, located at 501 Wicks Road in Brentwood, on April 23 and April 24 from 11am through 4pm. During the event, prom dresses, suits, tuxedos and shoes will be given away to high school juniors and seniors who bring a school ID.

Right now, organizers are seeking donations for the event. If you have gently used prom attire that you are able to donate then drop it off at any of the seven SCPD precincts through April 15.
