(BAYVILLE, N.Y.) – For the first time since the spring of 2019, supporters in the fight to end diabetes in America will once again be “Cooking for a Cure” at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29.

Now in its 17th year, the event features dinner, drinks, music and raffle prizes, all with beautiful Bayville water views as the backdrop for an evening benefitting the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) Foundation.

The Paolillo family, who are the event’s honorees, have deep roots in the community and the fight against diabetes. For three generations, the family has lived in Glen Cove and owns S. Paolillo & Sons, a successful electrical and HVAC contracting business.

Soon after Kathryn Paolillo was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 18, she and the rest of the Paolillo family and their friends eagerly jumped into multiple events to raise money for the DRI Foundation – a passion that continues to grow as the Paolillos devoting more of their time and energy toward raising money and awareness so that a cure can be achieved at long last.

Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove), who is a DRI Foundation board member and event co-chair alongside Rebecca Castronovo, shares a similar personal connection to the cause – her daughter Amanda was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age three. Since that time, she been an outspoken advocate for diabetes awareness, treatment and research, and remains a prolific fundraiser who has helped to raise more than $1 million – and counting -toward a cure.

“Like so many parents, when I first learned that my daughter had diabetes, I felt unsure where to turn or how to move forward – but thanks to the amazing group of families at the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, we received the resources and support that helped my daughter thrive,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “The Paolillo family does so much to support the DRI Foundation and its noble mission to find a cure, and I know that we are all thrilled to recognize them as our 2023 Cooking for a Cure honorees.”

Tickets for the event are $100. Limited supplies remain available online at https://e.givesmart.com/events/v2s/.
