Suspect Shoots Shirley Teen After Sneaker Sale Goes Bad, Authorities Report

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who shot a teen in Shirley earlier this year. 
 
A teen attempting to sell a pair of Air Jordan Black Cat sneakers via Snapchat met a man outside his home on January 29 at approximately 3 p.m. The teen left the shoes in the house when he came outside to meet the man. The man then displayed a handgun and demanded the teen bring the shoes outside. The teen ran into his house and closed the door. The man then fired a shot through the door, striking the teen in his thigh. The man fled in a silver SUV.
 
The teen was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
