Bay Shore Man Arrested for Stealing Motorcycles and ATVs, Selling Parts on Facebook & Craigslist
Bay Shore, NY - March 30th, 2016 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for stealing and dismantling motorcycles and ATVs at his Bay Shore home.
Third Precinct Crime Section Police Officer Daniel Fandrey initiated an investigation that led to the execution of a search warrant by Third Squad Detectives. At 4:55 p.m., Third Squad Detectives, assisted by members of the Third Precinct Crime Section, executed a search warrant at the suspect's home on New York Avenue, Bay Shore.
The search revealed that Edison Vasquez was conducting a vehicle dismantling operation on the premises. During the execution of the search warrant, numerous stolen motorcycle and ATV parts were recovered.
Further investigation revealed Vasquez dismantled motorcycles and ATVs on the premises and would subsequently sell parts via craigslist and Facebook.
Third Squad Detectives charged Vasquez, 19, of New York Avenue, Bay Shore, with two counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, two counts of Illegal Possession of a Vehicle Identification Number, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Burglary 3rd Degree. Additionally, an Islip Town investigator and Fire Marshal responded and observed numerous building and zoning code violations.
Vasquez will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 30.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
