LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

Calling all cat lovers- Freddie is your man!  This 2 year old stunning gray and white boy with the most adorable pink nose came to Last Hope Animal Rescue in Wantagh from the Babylon Animal Shelter, and is in search of his new forever home.  Freddie is very friendly and will sit on any lap he can find. If you’re looking for a lovable lap cat, Freddie’s waiting for you!  For more information, check out Last Hope’s website.

Meet the “Wizard of Wantagh”!  Wizard is an adorable Dachshund mix who stands as tall as a Standard Doxie but is twice as long.  His rather comical appearance give the Last Hope volunteers quite the chuckle, and added with his oh-so-sweet personality, Wizard is the dog for you! For more information, visit Wizard’s webpage.

Okay everyone- it’s time to meet Browny!  Browny was surrendered to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter when his owner had to move and couldn’t take Browny with him. Talk about the perfect pet… Browny is a seasoned family dog–he has lived with a 9-year-old child and even likes other dogs and cats! But wait, there’s more: Browny is house broken, crate trained, and even knows a ton of commands like “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “come,” “drop,” and “paw” (anyone who’s owned a dog knows how important these qualities are).  Even though this handsome boy is nervous and unhappy at the shelter, he is making the best of it and remains playful with toys and even knows how to play fetch! Volunteers all agree: Browny is amazing, and you should adopt him today!

Please call for more information: 516-785-5220 or come visit The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter at 3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh NY 11793.

Thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt- never shop…pass it on!
