At a recent General Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature, the Presiding Office commended the women who were chosen as the Women of Distinction for 2021 for their legislative district. Legislator Rob Trotta selected Kerry Reilly DeJesus as the 2021 Woman of Distinction for the 13th Legislative District. “Kerry is a consummate volunteer and passionate about her town and its residents,” said Legislator Trotta.
Kerry is the manager of the Stony Brook University Hospital Call Center in Southampton, where she supervises a staff responsible for scheduling all operating room, radiology and COVID-19 testing. She and her husband are longtime residents of St. James and are the proud parents of four children.
She has been very involved in the PTA of her children’s schools and continues to be active while her last child finishes high school. In addition, she has been a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Kerry has taught religious education for more than 20 years. While her son served four years in the US Marines, Kerry spearheaded efforts to collect care packages to provide essential items and treats to the troops serving overseas. She has also volunteered at the historic Deepwells Mansion helping to decorate the house for its annual Haunted Mansion Event. In 2020, Kerry was the Co-Grand Marshall for the annual St. James Chamber of Commerce St. Patrick’s Day Parade; unfortunately, it was cancelled due to the pandemic.
Legislator Trotta added,“Kerry is dedicated to enhancing the lives of others and has demonstrated a strong work ethic, and is very deserving of this recognition.”
