Police: Brooklyn Man Arrested in Connection with Hempstead Fatal Heroin Overdose

Long Island, NY - April 5, 2017 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 8:10 pm.
 
According to Narcotics Vice Detectives, the defendant, Justin Velasquez, 36, of Brooklyn was arrested in connection with a fatal heroin overdose that occurred on March 20, 2017 in Hempstead. Velasquez attempted to complete a narcotics sale and was placed under arrest without incident. 
 
Velasquez was found to be in possession of twenty-five (25) glassine envelopes of a substance believed to be heroin and a plastic bag containing a substance believed to be cocaine.
 
Defendant Justin Velasquez is charged with two (2) counts Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree and two (2) counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree.  He will be arraigned Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead. 
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
