A new pizza spot in Syosset boasts a menu that, while filled with great slices and pies, also offers a little more Italian fare. Flora's Pizza Cafe opened in the former Paesanos Pizza location on Jericho Turnpike in Syosset.

 

Starters include Zuppa di Casa, cannelini beans, chickpeas, celery, carrot, baby kale  and zucchini ($12) and Veal Meatballs served in tomato sauce topped with 24-month aged parmigiano-reggiano ($16). Their pasta dishes include a Pappardelle alla Bolognese, fresh pappardelle with veal ragu and 24-month aged parmigiano-reggiano ($24) and Gnocchi al Pesto, gnocchi with organic basil and organic rucola pesto topped with 24-month aged parmigiano-reggiano ($22).

 

Pizza specialties include a Bresaola pie with smoked bresaola (beef), baby rucola, balsamic glaze, crema di parmigiano and shaved ricotta salata ($22), a Floras Truffle pie with truffle paste, fior di latte, sundried tomatoes and parmigiano-reggiano ($24) and a Luna Bianca pie with mozzarella, ricotta, truffle burrata, prosciutto crudo, cherry tomato and rucola ($22).

 

Reviewers are giving the new pizzeria a good grade.
