This Week's Adorable Adoptables: Meet Lucas and Flamingo!

Written by Allison Matos  |  08. April 2016

LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is this happy-go-lucky looking boy named Lucas. Lucas is about 5 years old who was found in someone’s yard.  Lucas’ owner hasn’t come forward so unfortunately there’s not much history on this cutie. Lucas has a very friendly demeanor, displayed no issues with people near his food, and is being recommended for a home with kids 13 and up. He already knows the command “sit”, is social and friendly with strangers and is playful with toys.

He is friendly with other dogs, but needs to be a solo pet for now because he has to work on sharing his toys with other pooches. Lucas is seriously adorable, and seriously wants his forever home.  Please call for more information: 516-785-5220 or come visit him at 3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh NY 11793.

Meet Flamingo!  Flamingo is an adorably gorgeous 5+ year old Dachshund mix who is ready to melt your heart.  Flamingo arrived at Last Hope Animal Rescue already named, but for some reason the silly name does fit her.  Flamingo is so sweet and would really make the pet for someone as sweet as her. For more information, check out her webpage.

Thank you for reading, and please remember to always adopt, never shop…pass it on!
