LIGHT ACCUMULATING SNOW TUESDAY MORNING A fast moving system will bring a band of light snow to the area Tuesday morning. A coating to less than 1 inch of snow accumulation is forecast. Roads will become snow covered due to the recent cold weather resulting in slippery travel conditions. Anyone planning to travel Tuesday morning should use extra caution. The accumulating snow will quickly come to an end late morning through midday with temperatures rising into the middle and upper 30s in the afternoon.

Man Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash

Crash occurred at Buckley Road and Waverly Avenue in North Patchogue.

Ronkonkoma, NY - April 8, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a Ronkonkoma man this morning.
 
Shane Meighan was driving a Suffolk County Transit bus westbound on Buckley Road when he attempted to make a left turn at a traffic light onto Waverly Avenue and was struck by a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt that was travelling northbound on Waverly Avenue in North Patchogue.  Witnesses told police the driver of the Chevrolet, Preston Campagne, went through the red light.
 
Meighan, 57, of North Babylon, was not injured. Two of the three bus passengers were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center for minor injuries. Campagne, 48, of Ronkonkoma, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.
 
Campagne was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license and for failing to stop at a traffic light. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
