AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Brentwood High School Students Recognized for Holiday Volunteer Efforts

Brentwood High School students who participated in a program to supply needy families with food during the holidays were awarded for their efforts by the Suffolk County Police Athletic League last week.

Brentwood, NY - April 8th, 2015 - Brentwood High School students who participated in a program to supply needy families with food during the holidays were awarded for their efforts by the Suffolk County Police Athletic League last week.

Suffolk County Police Officer Ed Groce and Suffolk County Legislator Monica Martinez presented Certificates of Appreciation on April 2nd to several Brentwood High School students who volunteered at the 2014 Feed the Needy event.

The Suffolk County Police Athletic League and Suffolk County Office of Minority Affairs, along with the high school students, provided a Thanksgiving meal to more than 500 families living in shelters at an event held at Central Islip High School on November 22nd.

The students who participated helped serve the families and clean up during the event.
