Elmont Man Accused of Jumping on Car, Threatening Female Driver with Pitchfork, Police Report

Elmont, NY - The Fifth Squad reports the Arrest of an Elmont man for Attempted Robbery that occurred on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 6:50 p.m. in Elmont.
 
According to detectives, patrol officers received a radio assignment for a suspicious male carrying a pitchfork at Belmont Racetrack. Defendant Rigoberto Herrera Luna, 33, had jumped on the hood of the car of a 27 year-old female victim while holding a pitchfork and demanded she call police. The defendant then attempted to remove the victim from the vehicle. Upon police arrival, they located the defendant and placed him in custody. He was found to be in possession of cocaine.
 
The defendant was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
 
Rigoberto Herrera Luna is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree (Attempt), Menacing 2nd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, April 05, 2019 at First District Court, Hempstead.
