Two Men Arrested for Stealing Cooking from 9 Long Island Businesses

Two men were arrested for multiple larcenies of used cooking oil from various restaurants in Nassau County on April 7, 2023.

The Sixth Squad reports the arrest of two men for multiple larcenies that
occurred on Friday, April 7, 2023 in Nassau County.
 
According to Detectives, Officers responded for a larceny of used cooking oil in progress. Prior to arrival, Officers observed a 2006 Isuzu white Box Truck matching the description. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. The Defendants Melvin Howell, 55, of 1120 Eldert Lane, Brooklyn and Rodney Lofton, 49, of 64-05 64 th Street, Queens were placed under arrested without incident. Subsequent to the investigation, it was determined the defendants were responsible for larcenies of used cooking oil from the following locations:
 
 Leonard’s Palazzo – 5565 Northern Boulevard, Great Neck
 Stresa Restaurant – 1524 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset
 IHOP- 1586 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset
 Monster Crab – 242 Voice Road, Carle Place
 Fyhre Hibachi Sushi Lounge Restaurant – 246 Voice Road, Carle Place
 Mint – 1 Ring Road West, Garden City
 The Cheesecake Factory – 1504 Old Country Road, Westbury
 Chick-fil-A – 1530 Old Country Road, Westbury
 Benihana Restaurant – 920 Merchants Concourse, Westbury
 
Defendant Howell is charged with eight (8) counts of Petit Larceny, Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and two (2) counts of Possession of Burglar Tools.
 
The Defendant Lofton is charged with eight (8) counts of Petit Larceny and Grand Larceny 4th Degree. They were each issued an Appearance Ticket returnable on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 to First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
