AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Man Wanted for Uniondale Burglary; Posed as Cablevision Employee

An elderly woman was robbed by a man claiming to be a cable technician.

Uniondale, NY- April 8, 2014 - The First Squad is investigating a Burglary that occurred in Uniondale on Tuesday, April 08, 2014 at 8:24 am.
 
According to detectives, a 74 year old female victim heard a noise inside her Hempstead Boulevard residence and observed an unknown male black inside her screened in porch stating that he was here from Cablevision. The subject then pushed open the door into the house and knocked the victim to the ground. The subject was then observed going through a desk drawer and removed a black purse that contained a cell phone, credit cards, and an undisclosed amount of US currency. The subject then fled the home on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was able to leave and call the police from a neighbor’s home. There were no injuries reported.
 
The male subject is described as being black, 5’8” – 6’ tall, gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, late teens to early twenties.
