On Wednesday, April 9th, Nassau County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman and Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder Unveiled a Memorial Plaque to honor Patrolman John A. Hahn.
Patrolman Hahn was the first NCPD Officer killed in the Line of Duty in 1925.
The event was held at 10:00am at the corner of Stewart Ave and Washington Ave in Garden City, NY.
Patrolman John Hahn, age 39, was killed in a motorcycle accident at Washington Avenue and Stewart Avenue in Garden City.
Patrolman Hahn was traveling north on Washington Avenue when a vehicle traveling on Stewart Avenue collided with him at the intersection. He was thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to the Nassau Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
He had served with the Nassau County Police Department for the five months the department had existed after absorbing several village and town departments in the county. It is unknown how long he had served in law enforcement prior. He was survived by his wife.
