In caring for the needs of scores of disabled adults, The Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County found itself faced with a shortage of protective gear for its workers as coronavirus cases began to spike late last month.  To help provide front-line workers with masks, gloves and other personal protective equipment, Jovia Financial Credit Union announced today that it has donated funds to bring needed supplies to the organization.

The donation by the Westbury-based credit union will initially provide vital materials for CP Nassau residences throughout Nassau County.  Jovia is a long-time partner of CP Nassau, co-sponsoring a number of community events and activities on Long Island to benefit the local organization.

“In times like these, we rely on friends and family.  Our relationship with Jovia has become so close over the years that we were not the least surprised at how quickly they reacted when they heard we needed PPE for our people,” said Bob McGuire, executive director of The Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County.  “It’s generous efforts like this that make such a big difference in what we do every day. This equipment is helping to save lives.”

“CP Nassau’s critical work in caring for residents of its homes puts its dedicated staff at risk now that the pandemic has hit Nassau County so hard,” said Renu Dalessandro, chief marketing officer at Jovia. “These much-needed supplies will not only protect these caring and dedicated workers, but will help the individuals get the vital attention they so desperately need.”

Jovia and CP Nassau have established a strong local partnership over the years. Most recently, Jovia sponsored the annual Nassau Pops concert to raise funds for CP Nassau and has underwritten several programs aimed at raising money for the organization.
