Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) encourages Nassau County residents to start their spring cleaning by taking advantage of the “Sound the Alarm” initiative that is being coordinated by the American Red Cross for Freeport, Roosevelt and Uniondale residents on Wednesday, April 23. On that date, volunteers will be available to visit area homes and install smoke alarms.

Families interested in participating can visit SoundTheAlarm.org/LI, call 1-877-733-2767, or scan the QR code on the event flier.

“Having a working smoke alarm in your home reduces the risk of losing your life in a fire by half – and the ‘Sound the Alarm’ program provides an outstanding opportunity for local families to protect themselves and the greater community,” Legislator Koslow said. “I applaud the American Red Cross for coordinating this life-saving program and encourage anyone who is in need to take full advantage of these resources.”
