Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Ricardo Siguenza, 32, of Bay Shore, was indicted for Murder in the Second Degree, for allegedly fatally striking 44-year-old Carlos Edenilson Cabrera Alvarez, of Brentwood, on the head with a lug wrench.
“The brazen violence alleged here is inexplicable and will not be tolerated in Suffolk County,” said District Attorney Tierney. “As with any homicide, we will vigorously prosecute and bring justice for the victim.”
According to the investigation, on February 25, 2025, at approximately 6:47 p.m., Cabrera Alvarez was walking eastbound on Main Street in Bay Shore and Siguenza was walking westbound on Main Street allegedly carrying a large lug wrench by his side. As the two men walked toward each other and got closer, Siguenza allegedly reached back with his right hand, swung the wrench and struck Cabrera Alvarez in the head. Cabrera Alvarez stumbled forward and fell to the ground while Siguenza allegedly continued walking westbound. Siguenza continued walking around Bay Shore until approximately 12:50 a.m. when he tried to enter the Goody Two Shoes Bar on Main Street.
The door was locked and by that time there were several employees still in the bar who allegedly recognized Siguenza from a surveillance video depicting the attack that had been shared with local bar owners earlier that night.
One of the bar’s employees called 911 and the Suffolk County Police Department responded. A few moments later, police arrested Siguenza as he was walking down Main Street. At the time of his arrest, he was still in possession of the lug wrench that he allegedly had used to strike Cabrera Alvarez. It is not clear if the two knew each other.
Cabrera Alvarez was transported to South Shore University Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and placed on life support, but he never regained consciousness. He ultimately passed away on March 11, 2025.
On April 11,2025, Siguenza was arraigned before Acting Supreme Court Justice Anthony S. Senft, Jr. for Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A felony. Justice Senft ordered Siguenza remanded during the pendency of the case. Siguenza is due back in court on May 2, 2025, and faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted on the top count. He is being represented by George Duncan, Esq.
This case is being prosecuted by Bureau Chief Timothy Gough of the Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Jacob DeLauter of the Major Crime Bureau, with investigative assistance from the Suffolk County Police Department Homicide Squad.
Criminal complaints and indictments are merely accusatory instruments. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. No one is above the law.
