Man Arrested for DWI and Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Interlock Device

Bay Shore, NY - April 12, 2014 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a Bay Shore man for driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failing to operate a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device.
 
Suffolk County Highway Patrol Bureau initiated a traffic stop on Jose Garcia for passing a steady red traffic light at Howells Road and Sunrise Highway Service Road in Bay Shore at approximately 3 a.m. Further investigation revealed that Garcia, who was driving a 2001 Dodge pick-up truck, was under the influence of alcohol and that his licensed had been revoked. Garcia was also in violation of his New York State driver’s license restriction that he operate a motor vehicle only if it is equipped with an ignition interlock device. 
 
Garcia, 40, of Central Boulevard in Bay Shore, was arrested and charged with felony DWI, felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device.
 
He is being held at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
