Cops: Patchogue Man Arrested for Robbery, Drugs and Weapons Charges After Fleeing Police

Patchogue, NY - April 12, 2018 - Suffolk County Police arrested a Patchogue man for robbery, drugs and weapons charges after he fled from police.
 
Fifth Precinct Gang Unit officers observed Lawrence Jenkins, who was wanted in connection with a robbery in Patchogue on March 10, driving a 2002 Ford Explorer northbound on Waverly Avenue, approaching Sunrise Highway, in Patchogue on April 11 at approximately 6:40 p.m. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle and Jenkins fled. Officers pursued Jenkins until he pulled over on the westbound Southern State Parkway in Wantagh.
 
Jenkins was charged with Attempted Robbery 1st Degree for his role in the March robbery. He was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree for possessing a loaded 9mm handgun, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree for a possession a weapon with previous conviction of a drug charge, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree.
 
Jenkins was also charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree for fentanyl and cocaine, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree for cocaine, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree for fentanyl, Tampering with Physical Evidence for throwing drugs out of the window of the vehicle while fleeing police, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Criminal Use Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree-Scales.
 
Jenkins, 39, was scheduled for arraignment today at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
