Officials: Man Makes Off with 21 Pairs of Jeans from Sears, Threatens Security When Confronted

Lake Grove, NY - April 16, 2018 - Suffolk County Police on Friday, April 13, 2018 arrested a man for a robbery which occurred on April 4 at approximately 7:15 p.m. in Lake Grove.
 
Matthew Verderosa stole 21 pairs of jeans from Sears, located at 4 Burr Lane. Verderosa left the store with the merchandise and was confronted by security. Verderosa stated he had a gun before fleeing on foot.
 
After a thorough investigation by Fourth Squad detectives, Verderosa, 22, who is undomiciled, was arrested and charged with one count Robbery 1st Degree, two counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree.
 
Verderosa was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, on April 14, 2018.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
