A Long Island company has scored a New York State Lottery Powerball Powerplay second prize worth a cool $2 million after correctly picking the winning numbers last year, but only recently came forward to claim their winnings.

Groovy D Limited Liability Company (LLC), based out of Oyster Bay, nailed the winning numbers in November 2023 - 20, 24, 33, 39, 42, and Power Ball 21 - and Lottery officials announced that the company officially contacted them to accept the $2 million prize on Thursday, April 11.

Normally, winning the second prize would net only $1 million, but the company had also purchased the Powerplay feature for just a dollar more, which automatically doubled the prize to $2 million.

The winning ticket was bought at Lindy’s Card & Gift at 20 Jericho Turnpike in Jericho.

Groovy D opted to take their winnings as a one-time lump sum in the amount of $1,302,009 after required withholdings.
