Uniondale, NY - April 17th, 2014 - Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Glen Cove man for attempted burglary and reckless endangerment that occurred in Flower Hill and Uniondale on Tuesday, 08/27/13 and 04/09/14, respectively.
According to detectives, on 08/27/13 at 2:24 A.M., Rashawn Bellamy, 26, of 1438 Avalon Square, attempted to enter T-Mobile located at 1073 Northern Blvd. in Flower Hill, by prying open a rear door. Upon police arrival, the defendant fled on foot, leaving behind a 2009 Porsche that he was driving. On Wednesday, 04/09/14 at 12:35 A.M., Third Precinct Police Officers, while attempting a traffic stop on Earl Ovington Blvd., pulled over the defendant who was operating a 2011 BMW. As the officers approached the vehicle, the defendant accelerated in an unsafe manner putting them in danger of being struck. The defendant sped off, leading officers on a high speed chase. Officers terminated the pursuit.
On Wednesday, 04/16/14 at 10:00 A.M., Third Squad detectives located and arrested the defendant in the rear of 262 Old Country Rd. in Mineola. Bellamy is being charged with Burglary 3rd Degree (Attempt), Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Op Vehicle 3rd Degree, Improper Turn/Fail to Signal and Fail to Signal Lane Change. He will be arraigned on Thursday, 04/17/14 in First District Court, Hempstead.
