Northport, NY - April 17, 2015 - On April 1, 2015, Legislator Sarah Anker attended the 5th Annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month Program at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

“It was an honor to attend the 5th Annual Sexual Assault Awareness Program,” said Legislator Anker. “The Northport VA has more than thirty military sexual assault counselors and provides free care for mental health and physical conditions resulting from sexual assault in the military. I am grateful that our veterans have access to these much-needed services.”

The Northport Military Sexual Trauma (MST) program serves veterans who are engaged in either one-to-one counseling or group therapy.  There are approximately 30 active MST counselors providing these therapeutic services and assisting with referrals, education, advocacy and support.
