Tepache Mexican Restaurant Opens in Valley Stream
Tepache Mexican Restaurant has opened in the old Pomodorino Rosso location on Franklin Avenue in Valley Stream. The Italian restaurant had closed up last summer.
The menu is filled with Mexican specialties like the Sweet Corn Tamalitos appetizer, which is pan fried corn tamalitos, creamy corn, lime crema, and queso fresco. They also have Choriqueso with oaxaca cheese, jack cheese, chorizo, and poblano rajas and Mini Burritos with black beans, arroz verde, queso fresco, tomatillo, salsa, and crema fresca. They have a Ceviche Michelada de Camaron with cucumber, tomatoes and cilantro in tomato broth.

Entrees include Aguja Nortena, grilled NY strip loin, chimichurri, añejo cheese mashed potatoes and grilled nopales; Costilla, ancho bbq spareribs, corn bread, hot honey, and pinto beans and the Classic Arroz con Pollo with garlic chips, chorizo, chile de arbol, green pea and roasted sweet peppers.
The interior of Tepache is lively and bright with a full bar and an ample dining room.
On Yelp, Heily P, went on their grand opening day and gave them five stars.
“Their grand opening is tonight but I couldn't wait any longer so I went for lunch and it was delicious,” she wrote. “From the salsa that is served with chips, to the chicken fajita I had and the amazing ending with gluten free chocolate cake, oh my word!!! So good!!!”
