AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT MONDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. SCPD Crime Alert: Two Men Wanted for Riverhead Mugging

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Riverhead Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating and identifying two men who assaulted and robbed a man in Riverhead earlier this week.

Riverhead, NY - April 18th, 2014 -  Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Riverhead Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating and identifying two men who assaulted and robbed a man in Riverhead earlier this week.

On Sunday, April 13, 2014, at approximately 12:45 p.m., two men robbed a male victim who was walking on Osborne Avenue near the Long Island Railroad Tracks.  The victim was then dragged to an area west of Marcy Avenue where he was physically assaulted.  The suspects fled on foot and were last seen near Pulaski Street.

The suspects are described as black males in their mid-30s with a medium build with short black hair.  One was wearing all black and the other was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or call the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500 Ext. 289.
