Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian last evening in Halesite.

Suffolk County, NY - April 18, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian last evening in Halesite.

Jose Lucero, 28, was walking northbound in the traffic lane on New York Avenue when he was struck by a 2013 Honda Accord, driven by Frances Reynoso, who was also traveling northbound on New York Avenue at 9:35 p.m.

Lucero, of New York Avenue, Halesite, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Reynoso, 21, of Halesite, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
