Inwood Man Arrested After Allegedly Kidnapping Woman, Robbing and Beating Her with a Pipe

The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of an Inwood man for a Kidnapping that occurred on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 4:00 a.m. in Lawrence. 
 
According to Detectives, Officers received a call for a domestic disturbance in the vicinity of Hollywood Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers were met by the victim who stated she was assaulted by defendant Christian Leiva-Aguilar, 19, of 13 Pearl Street in Inwood. Officers located defendant Leiva-Aguilar driving on Lawrence Avenue and conducted a Lawful Vehicle and Traffic stop. He was arrested without further incident. 
 
After a further investigation, it was determined that the victim was picked up by the defendant earlier in the morning and an argument ensued. As the argument escalated, he punched her in the face multiple times and refused to let her exit the vehicle. The defendant threatened the victim multiple times, smashed her phone with a pipe, struck the victim with a pipe, and stole $300.00 USC from the victim. Upon escaping the victim called 911 for Police assistance.
 
Defendant Leiva-Aguilar is charged with Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a forged instrument 2nd Degree. He was arraigned on Tuesday, April 17, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
