Lufker Airport (Federal Aviation Administration location identifier 49N, formerly O00), a privately owned, 30-acre public use airport located at 115 Montauk Highway in East Moriches, is for sale for just under $8 million.
Formerly a farm used for growing cabbages and melons up until the 1940s, the family-owned airstrip has been most recently used by banner towing planes and for flight instruction. Frequented by John F. Kennedy, Jr., who flew his own plane there when visiting the Hamptons; actor Cliff Robertson , who was a guest in the 1970s; and former New York State Governor George Patakii, who used the strip when traveling out east by state helicopter, the land is represented by Laura Riportella of Douglas Elliman.
