AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. SCPD Looking for Commack Bike Thieves

Two men are wanted for stealing a bicycle from a Sports Authority store.

Commack, NY - April 23, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Fourth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate two men who stole a bicycle from the Sports Authority store in Commack.
 
On April 7, 2014, two males entered Sports Authority, located at 124 Veterans Memorial Highway, removed a green mountain bike from a display area and left the store without paying for it. One of the men rode the bike out the door and fled. The other man held the door open for him and drove away in an older model white van with roof racks on top.
 
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
