Hauppauge, NY - April 21, 2015 - Man & Woman of the Year is a spirited 10-week fundraising campaign to advance the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) which is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.  Man & Woman of the Year candidates and their teams compete in honor of local pediatric blood cancer patients and survivors, Douglas Grimmett and Mary DeLorenzo, the 2015 Boy & Girl of the Year. Each dollar raised counts as one vote, and the man and woman whose team earns the most ‘votes’ by the end of the campaign period earns the title of Man & Woman of the Year, respectively.

Eva L. Casale is a 2015 Woman of the Year candidate.  Eva is an avid runner, and has decided to run the span of Long Island (she will follow a 150 mile path).  Eva defines her quest to run from Manhattan to Montauk, as a small task compared to what those that are battling cancer take on daily.  Eva describes herself as a “Woman with a pair of running shoes, working to make a difference in the lives of blood cancer patients.”  Her goal is to raise $150,000.

She will begin her journey at the NYC Chapter of LLS located in lower Manhattan on Friday, April 24th, at 8am.  She looks to complete her 150 miles at Noon on Sunday, April 26th, at The Green, Montauk, NY.  Each mile she runs will be dedicated to a different local child that is either surviving or has succumbed to a cancer.  Eva will make nine organized stops along the way to pick up fellow runners to run along side of her.  Some of those runners are cancer survivors themselves.
