AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. SCPD arrested Jose Ventura of Copiague, 31, for a stabbing that occurred at a laundromat in Copiague.

Copiague, NY - April 24, 2017 - Suffolk County Police arrested a Copiague man for a stabbing that occurred at a laundromat in Copiague on Friday, April 21, 2017 at approximately 2:45 a.m.
 
A customer and an employee of Nancy’s Super Laundromat were involved in an altercation at the business, located at 1925 Great Neck Road, at approximately 1:30 a.m. The customer, Jose Ventura, left and came back at approximately 2:45 a.m. and stabbed the employee.
 
The victim was transported by Copiague Fire Department to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment of serious injuries.
 
Ventura fled and was located a short time later by First Precinct officers. First Squad detectives charged Ventura, 31, of 1050 Marconi Blvd., with Assault 1st Degree. He will be held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on April 22.  
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
