AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. SCPD Reports Man Arrested For Robberies of Two Babylon Businesses

SCPD arrested Michael Riggs for robbing two Babylon Village businesses.

Babylon, NY - April 25, 2018 - Suffolk County Police on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 arrested a man who robbed two Babylon Village businesses earlier this year.
 
Michael Riggs entered Kilwins, located at 130 Deer Park Ave., on January 21, 2018 and demanded cash. Employees complied with his demand and he fled on foot. On February 15, 2018, he robbed the European Image Tanning and Sunless Center located at 1 Park Avenue.
 
After a thorough investigation by First Squad detectives, Riggs was arrested at the intersection of the North Sunrise Service Road and Brookside Avenue in North Babylon at approximately 5:55 p.m. He was charged with two counts of Robbery 3rd Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
 
Riggs will be held at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on April 25.
