New restaurants are opening all the time on Long Island. Here are six new places that we’re especially excited to try out.
Brasserie French Restaurant in Massapequa
The French restaurant, Brasserie, opened in Massapequa in April, a sophisticated yet relaxed and fun dining experience. The new French restaurant moved into the building once occupied by Bobby McCann’s Sports Bar & Grill, which closed last year. The restaurant is run by two New York City restaurateurs who came out to Long Island during the pandemic. Location: 5590 Merrick Road, Massapequa, (585) 486-2305.
Manolo's Churrasqueira in Bellmore
Taking over the spot that used to be Everest Himalayan Cuisine, a new Brazilian barbecue restaurant opened up recently in Bellmore called Manolo's Churrasqueira. More casual than say, Fogo de Chão, you can still get a wide selection of grilled meats on the menu. Reviewers are giving it a mom and pop kind of feel. Location: 2518 Merrick Road, Bellmore, (516) 804-5656.
Schnitzels in Stony Brook
A new German restaurant in Stony Brook Village Center called Schnitzels is the result of a collaboration between the owners of Brew Cheese, a beer and cheese spot in Northport, and Stony Brook and Crazy Beans, a breakfast and lunch restaurant with locations in Miller Place, Stony Brook and Greenport. After a sign went in the window of the old Grist Mill Eatery deli and pizza place, people got excited about the new concept. A source at the Stony Brook Village Center said that the restaurant will most likely be a sit-down restaurant with take out.

Kyuramen Japanese Restaurant in Garden City
Kyuramen, a national chain of Japanese restaurants specializing in ramen dishes, has opened in Garden City. According to their website there are already 14 restaurants in the U.S. with a handful more on the way. The restaurant says that it diverges from the typical ramen soup most Americans are used to, serving up ramen noodles of Japan's three major styles - South Japan's Kyushu Shio Style, Central Japan's Tokyo Shouyu Style and the Hokkaido Miso Style. “Although differ in flavors are different, each have followers of their own,” the website says. The ramen is the star of the show on the menu with ten different varieties of ramen. They also have a selection of rice burgers (a protein of chicken, beef or pork surrounded by a rice bun). Location: 988 Franklin Avenue, Garden City, (516) 385-8887.
Paprika Kosher Restaurant in Great Neck
A new traditional Mediterranean Kosher restaurant serving Israeli dishes called Paprika is opening in Great Neck in the old La Rotonda Ristorante space. Owner David Zaken says the restaurant will open February 1. His wife, Roni Zaken, is the chef. The couple already have a Paprika Kosher catering restaurant in New York City and they plan to bring their food service out to Long Island. The space at 8 Bond Street has a new decor and will seat 60. The restaurant will be split into two types of places, according to Zaken. One room will be for fine dining and the other half will be a quick deli with typical displays so customers can see what they're ordering and serving sandwiches. Location: 8 Bond Street, Great Neck.
