Mastic Beach, NY - April 27, 2018 - The William Floyd School District along with the William Floyd Alumni Association recently inducted its 10th class of Distinguished Alumni honorees, five individuals who have and continue to make great contributions in their chosen careers. The Distinguished Alumni program is designed to inspire current students and reconnect with alumni while celebrating their accomplishments and bringing a sense of pride to the William Floyd community.
This year’s honorees include: Caragh DeLuca, partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers and board member, Child Care Society of Chicago, Class of 1999; Lynn (Dorfer) Green, nurse/attorney/judge, Class of 1964; Steven Januszkiewicz, paramedic/Suffolk County communications supervisor and emergency services dispatcher, Class of 1995; Matthew Klein, NYPD detective and member of the elite forensic artist unit, Class of 1999; and Gregory Williams, principal violist of the Berkshire Opera Festival/assistant principal violist of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, Class of 2002. Distinguished Alumni Day began with a morning reception in the Rita Rech Museum of William Floyd School District History, followed by classroom visits designed to interact with and inspire current students, a fully-catered luncheon prepared and served by William Floyd High School Culinary Arts students under the direction of Chef Rich Daly and teaching assistant, Wendy Waldron, a school tour and the ceremonial unveiling of plaques in front of the Distinguished Alumni Wall. The day concluded with an awards dinner at the Bellport Country Club.
