Oceanside, NY - April 28, 2016 - Arson/Bomb Squad detectives are investigating an incident that occurred on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11:40 am in Oceanside.

According to detectives, the Oceanside Fire Department was called to a Bayside Avenue residence for a victim who sustained serious burns to his body after an explosion occurred while operating his backyard brick barbeque.

The victim, a 64 year old male, suffered extensive burns to the upper portion of his body and was transported to an area hospital for treatment where he is currently listed in critical condition.

The investigation into this incident and the cause of the explosion is ongoing.
