AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

Long Beach, NY - April 25, 2014 - Long Beach Reach, a community service organization offering positive alternatives and programs to the local community will hold a special Night of Dinner, Drinks & Music at Sutton Place on Thursday, May 8 from 6PM to 9PM. Proceeds from the event will support Long Beach Reach’s vital community services.
 
Long Beach Reach has been “reaching out” to the local community since 1970. The many services to individuals and families include; Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Prevention and Treatment Services, Alternative Education, Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and services, Juvenile Justice counseling and a crisis hotline as well as professional intervention for those with depression and other emotional health issues.
 
“The Night of Dinner, Drinks & Music will offer an enjoyable evening out where we can celebrate the families we have helped throughout the years, along with friends who have generously donated their time and have provided  financial support to help us in assisting  families in crisis,” said Executive Director, Dr. Joseph Smith.
 
All are welcome to attend the dinner which will feature local band F.O.G, well known for the many shows they have performed at the Long Beach Free Summer Concert Series. Music lovers will surely enjoy dancing to the Beatles, the Allman Brothers and everything in between. And don’t forget the raffle prizes!
 
“We will be selling raffle tickets for some truly wonderful prizes which were donated by local merchants,” added Smith.  “With all proceeds from the raffles and dinner going directly to Long Beach Reach, we will be able to continue our mission of providing professional services to individuals and families in our community.”
