AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Coram, NY - April 28, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Homicide and Arson Squad detectives are investigating two separate incidents, during which a Coram man was found dead in a park and the house in which he was residing was intentionally set on fire.

Police were called to 18 Hartsdale Lane, Coram, at approximately 3:30 p.m. to an active house fire. Arson Squad detectives believe the fire was intentional. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Police were later called to Tanglewood Park, located on Howe Road, Coram, at approximately 5:05 p.m. when a passerby saw a man slumped over in his vehicle. An investigation by Homicide Squad detectives revealed the 67-year-old-man had a self-inflected gunshot wound. Further investigation revealed the deceased resided at the house that was set on fire.

Homicide and Arson Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.
