SCPD Investigates Case of Coram Man Found Dead at Park and Victim's Home Set on Fire

Coram, NY - April 28, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Homicide and Arson Squad detectives are investigating two separate incidents, during which a Coram man was found dead in a park and the house in which he was residing was intentionally set on fire.

Police were called to 18 Hartsdale Lane, Coram, at approximately 3:30 p.m. to an active house fire. Arson Squad detectives believe the fire was intentional. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Police were later called to Tanglewood Park, located on Howe Road, Coram, at approximately 5:05 p.m. when a passerby saw a man slumped over in his vehicle. An investigation by Homicide Squad detectives revealed the 67-year-old-man had a self-inflected gunshot wound. Further investigation revealed the deceased resided at the house that was set on fire.

Homicide and Arson Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.
