Harbor Country Day School’s 2021 Spring Benefit - A Virtual ‘Mask’erade Breaks Record for Funds Raised!
Forced to host their annual Spring Benefit virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions, Harbor Country Day School’s Parents’ Association rose to the occasion to create an event that proved to be incredibly successful on a number of fronts.
During the past year of isolation and virtual events, the goal of building community and allowing others to show support of the school’s expanding programs and enriching each students’ school experience became even more challenging than ever. And Harbor delivered!
On Friday, April 23, 2021, more than 130 households tuned in for a virtual event program packed with student videos, honoree presentations, a live fundraising appeal and even a performance of Old Time Rock & Roll from opera singer and Harbor parent, Susanna Huntington, and Harbor’s Head of School, John Cissel!
Following the conclusion of the virtual event program, the online Silent Auction continued for another hour before closing the night at more than $53,000 raised!
As shared by Mr. Cissel in the digital interactive program journal that accompanied the event presented by Central Semiconductor, Corp of Hauppauge, NY, ‘Nothing has deterred the Parents’ Association from creating a special night for us one bit! This dream team embraced the challenge of hosting a virtual event with an abundance of creativity and passion, and a hefty dose of true out-of-the box thinking.’ That out-of-the-box thinking yielded more than $193,000 being raised to support Harbor Country Day School with close to $90,000 being donated by corporate, friends and family event partners.
Harbor Country Day School is sincerely grateful to the community and its supporters to help Harbor meet its extraordinary goals and looks forward to the 2022 Spring Benefit scheduled for Friday, March 22.
