The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office presents “A New Perspective” hosted by Suffolk County Sheriff Dr. Errol D. Toulon, Jr. The focus of this monthly show is to highlight the work of the Sheriff’s Office, inter-agency cooperation with local police agencies and elected officials, and interesting stories from around Suffolk County.

Sheriff Toulon conceived this show as a way of promoting the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Suffolk County’s only county-wide law enforcement agency. “We have the unique honor of interacting with and serving every community in Suffolk County,” said Sheriff Toulon. “I wanted to make sure that county residents know about all of the great work we do in coordination with local officials and law enforcement agencies.”

The first episode, available now, focuses on the Sheriff’s Transition and Re-entry Team (START) Resource Center. It showcases the staff from the START Center, the new satellite location at Spin the Yard in Wyandanch, and the effectiveness of the program. The START Center provides referrals to substance abuse treatment, education, job assistance, DSS assistance, identification issues, transportation, food, housing, and clothing. Correctional Counselors work from day one of incarceration to establish a discharge plan for the individual's successful reentry into the community.
