Nassau County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman was joined by Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips, Presiding Officer Rich Nicolello, Legislator Denise Ford, Legislator Tom McKevitt, Legislator Rose Marie Walker, Colette Coyne of Colette Coyne Melanoma Awareness Campaign, Garden City Dermatologist Dr. Ted Daly, and skin cancer survivors earlier today to proclaim May 2nd as Melanoma Monday in Nassau County.
County Executive Blakeman said, “As Memorial Day approaches and the weather gets warmer, I want to remind residents to use sunscreen and take other precautions to protect themselves from the sun. This year an estimated 99,780 adults will be diagnosed with Melanoma, but early detection can save lives. Be sure to schedule yearly check-ups to stay safe!”
The Colette Coyne Melanoma Awareness Campaign in conjunction with Nassau County, Belaray Dermatology and Garden City Dermatology are hosting FREE Skin Cancer Screenings on Saturday May 14, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM in Eisenhower Park, Field 2.
