As the old saying goes, any landing you can walk away from is a good one, and the pilot of a single-engine Cessna plane that was forced to make an emergency landing at a beach in Mt. Sinai can certainly attest to that.

Suffolk County Police said that that aircraft touched down on the sand of Cedar Beach at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1 due to an apparent power failure suffered mid-flight.

Emergency crews immediately responded to the scene after calls were put in, and confirmed that neither the 60-year-old male pilot  had managed to land the plane safely, and neither he or his 59-year-old female passenger had sustained any injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration is reportedly investigating the incident.
