Nassau Police Announce Three Arrests for Attempted Murder in Westbury
Westbury, NY - May 3, 2017 - Major Case Bureau reports the details of three (3) arrests for Attempted Murder on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 12:15 a.m. in Westbury.
According to Gang Investigation Squad detectives, patrol officers responded to a 911 call for an assault. Upon arrival, the male victim, 19, informed police a dispute occurred with Fidel Hernandez, 23, of New Cassel.
Fidel Hernandez displayed and swung a machete striking the victim on the stomach causing an abrasion. While the victim was defending himself, Jose Hernandez, 26, of New Cassel, armed with a handgun, fired multiple shots at the victim. Miguel Urias Arguenta, 18, Westbury, who was also at the scene, fled on foot with the Hernandez brothers.
A subsequent investigation was conducted and all three (3) subjects were arrested on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Jose Hernandez and Fidel Hernandez are also responsible for an additional assault that occurred Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Westbury.
Defendant Jose Hernandez is charged with two (2) counts of Murder 2nd degree (attempt), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th degree.
Defendant Fidel Hernandez is charged with two (2) counts of Murder 2nd degree (attempt) and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th degree.
Defendant Miguel Urias Arguenta is charged with Murder 2nd degree (attempt).
All subjects will be arraigned on May 3, 2017 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
