AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Man Airlifted to Hospital in Critical Condition Following Inwood 2-Car Collision

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Serious Vehicular Accident that occurred on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 5:25 PM in Inwood.
 
According to detectives, a 2018 white Honda operated by a male, 64, was driving southbound on Nassau Expressway (Route 878) where he was in collision with a blue 2019 Honda being operated by a female, 24, who was driving northbound. A result of the collision caused the blue Honda to strike a 2020 dark colored Kia being operated by a female, 49, who was also traveling northbound. 
 
The passenger of the white Honda was transported to an area hospital where she is listed in critical condition and the driver along with a juvenile passenger, were not injured. The operator of the blue Honda was air lifted to a nearby hospital where she is listed in stable condition. The operator of the Kia remained at scene and was not injured.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
