Lake Success, NY - May 4, 2015 - On 5/3/15 at 10:50 PM, a trooper from the Lake Success Barracks stopped a gray Honda for speeding on the Northern State Parkway near Post Avenue(exit 32). While interviewing the vehicle operator, Anthony Martarana, age 30, of Kings Park NY, the trooper detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Mr. Martarana failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI. Mr. Martarana was traveling with his two children ages 3 and 5.
The defendant provided a positive breath sample of .08% BAC. He was charged with Felony DWI(DWI with children under 16 in vehicle, Leandra's Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child(A Misdemeanor), and traffic violations. Mr. Martarana was held for arraignment in Nassau County First District Court. His children were turned over to a family member.
