South Floral Park, NY - May 6, 2014 - The Incorporated Village of South Floral Park will host a celebration honoring members of the Armed Forces, again this year. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014, starting at 11am in front of the village hall at 383 Roquette Avenue in South Floral Park. A celebration of Armed Forces Day is rare and the village would like to keep its long-time tradition of proudly acknowledging those who sacrifice their lives for our freedom.
The event will feature powerful speeches by our village mayor, Honorable Geoffrey N. Prime, and also community leaders & veterans, including Keynote Speaker Jerry Biscardi. Other guests attending are representatives of the American Legion, Marine Veterans of Long Island, and state & local elected officials. Local military members, past and present, will also be honored in the ceremony. South Floral Park village officials, South Floral Park Civic Association members, and the South Floral Park Volunteer Fire Department will also be present among all the residents and invited guests.
Further, Ms. Sandra Morilus will sing a selection of patriotic songs followed by violinist Ms. Rhiana Hernandez. Additionally, the Invocation and Benediction will be made by local leaders of the United Methodist Church. After the placing of the wreath by Mrs. Betty Gibson and completion of the ceremony, this family-friendly event will offer refreshments and raffles in the fire house and an excellent opportunity to meet & greet and network with neighbors, guests, & speakers.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and pay homage to our past, current, and fallen soldiers!
