Tragedy in Copiague: Female Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a female pedestrian in Copiague on Saturday, May 4.
 
A woman was crossing Sunrise Highway from north to south, between New Highway and Court Street, when she was struck by a westbound 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Patrick Cooke, at approximately 9:15 p.m.
 
The woman, who has not yet been identified by police, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where she was pronounced dead. Cooke, 62, of Islip, was not injured. The Chevrolet was impounded for a safety check.
