Nassau County, NY - May 6, 2014 - In celebration of National Nurses Week, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Health Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein recognize and honor nurses throughout Nassau County for their yearlong dedication and commitment to the field.
National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6th through May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of Nursing as a modern profession. Each year this week is set aside to highlight the diverse ways in which nurses, who comprise the largest health care profession, work to improve and promote health care.
“In celebration of National Nurses Week, I recognize and thank all the dedicated nurses throughout Nassau County who provide compassionate services every day to protect the health and safety of our residents,” said County Executive Edward Mangano.
“I thank all nurses for the important role they play in improving and promoting the health of our citizens,” said Health Commissioner Eisenstein. “During this week I would also like to thank the professional and dedicated nurses at the Nassau County Department of Health who work year-round to protect and promote the health of the residents of Nassau County.”
“Please join me during this special week-long recognition in honoring nurses for the care and compassion that they provide,” added County Executive Mangano.
