Long Island’s “Greatest Show” Prepares For Its 10th Anniversary

Bethpage, NYMay 8, 2013 - Bethpage Federal Credit Union, New York State’s largest credit union, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, are pleased to announce the lineup for the 10th Anniversary 2013 Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach.  Taking place Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday May 25, 2013 and Sunday, May 26, 2013, the lineup includes:

The Royal Canadian Air Force F18 Demonstration Team; Lt. Col. John Klatt of the National Guard Reserve; Sean D. Tucker of Team Oracle; Aerobatic Pilot Matt Chapman; Rob Holland Ultimate Air shows; The Raiders Demonstration Team; Kirby Chambliss of Team Chambliss; the Red Bull Air Force Skydiver Parachute Team; the Misty Blues All-Woman Skydiving Team; Chuck Aaron of the Red Bull Helicopter Aerobatics; the GEICO Skytypers; Miss GEICO Speedboat; the American Airpower Museum Warbirds; and David Windmiller.

Almost 400,000 spectators chose last year’s 9th Annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach as their Memorial Day holiday weekend destination.

Making their Long Island debut at the Bethpage Air Show, are Rob Holland Ultimate Airshows, the Raiders Demonstration Team, the Misty Blues All-Woman Skydiving Team, and the Miss GEICO Speedboat. The Royal Canadian Air Force Supersonic F18 Demonstration Team will be making their second Bethpage Air Show appearance.

Another first for this year’s anniversary show is the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach 10th Anniversary App, which will soon be available on iTunes.  Available for Androids and iPhones, Bethpage Air show enthusiasts will get up-to-the-minute information on parking field availability, full access to listen to the show live with a WHLI announcer, listen to live aircraft-to-tower communications from Republic Airport, learn about all of the show’s performers, take, share and comment on photos with other users, easily find Jones Beach Boardwalk vendors and on-site attractions, and more.

Also available for the time is the commemorative Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach 10th Anniversary DVD, which will be given away for free at Jones Beach toll booths to the first 1,000 cars to arrive to the air show on Saturday, and at the Bethpage Jones Beach Boardwalk tent on Saturday and Sunday.

Then, for a minimum $10 donation, fans can receive a “Rebuilding Long Island Shore to Shore” t-shirt, with all proceeds benefitting United Way of Long Island’s partner program with Bethpage to support Long Island families affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The Bethpage Air Show will be held Memorial Day weekend 2013 at Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh, NY, on Saturday, May 25, 2013 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM and Sunday, May 26, 2013 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  The Air Show is free to the public, but the standard $10.00 vehicle use fee will be collected each day upon entry to the State Park.  For 2013 NYS Empire Passport holders, there is no vehicle use fee charge.

For those looking to take public transportation to the air show, NICE Bus has increased its summer service and will run the n88 out of the Freeport LIRR station to Jones Beach every half hour from 8:35 am until 9:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Also, the newly reinstated n87 out of the Hicksville LIRR station, will run hourly to Jones Beach on Saturday and Sunday, from 9:20 am until 7:20 pm.  Both routes will make stops at Jones Beach’s two Bathhouses and the Central Mall.  The cash one way fare is $2.25, Metro Card $2.50. For $65, the Empire Passport permits unlimited vehicle access to most facilities operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.  Empire Passports are available for purchase at any Long Island State Park and can be utilized immediately and are effective until March 31, 2014 to enjoy the forests, the seashores and the lakefronts of New York State’s parks through all of New York’s beautiful seasons!
